FOUR LOCAL RECORD RELEASES YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS

By Kira Cuthbertson

As we get ready to hang up those winter coats for the year, Vancouver’s music scene is teeming with fresh young talent. Here’s a few local bands dropping some new music in the coming months with vibrant events to celebrate.

Babe Corner, Small Town Artillery, War Baby and Mellowhaunt will all be  gracing us with some locally-grown tunes, each with their own unique sound stretching across multiple genres. Their upcoming shows are the perfect opportunities to get out and support local music!

Along with supporting local artists, it’s equally essential to support the venues that allow these expressions to happen. Two of the shows take place at Red Gate, an all-ages independent community organization that provides a safe space for events showcasing all kinds of artists. As property taxes rise, the iconic venue is in need of funding to remain open as a hub for creators to connect and collaborate. Attending these shows not only exhibits support for the artists, but also encourages and funds the maintenance of the spaces
